Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is having a fantastic semester so far. According to the calendar, it is spring - according to Mother Nature, it is not spring yet! In the LC Band Department, there continues to be one fantastic thing after another! All of the ensembles are preparing for the Spring Concert and for ISSMA Organizational Contest, the jazz ensembles are still swingin', the winter percussion ensemble finished a very successful season, the winter guards are winding down their seasons as well, Marching Band starts in a little under two months . . . and the list goes on! We are all part of something wonderful - always do your part to help make everything better, and NEVER take anything for granted.

Chris Harmon Biography

A picture of Chris S. HarmonMr. Harmon is in his 10th year as Director of Bands at Lake Central. He was formerly the Director of Bands at Lowell High School and has also taught in the public schools of Waunakee, Wisconsin and Wichita, Kansas. He has also been active as an adjudicator and clinician in Wisconsin, California, Texas, Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Florida and Colorado. Mr. Harmon is also active as a guest conductor, most recently guest conducting honor bands in Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee.

Mr. Harmon received a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Wichita State University, a Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois, and a Master of Music Degree in Wind Conducting from Northwestern University. His principal conducting teachers have included Mallory Thompson, Stephen Peterson, Paul Vermel, James Keene and Tom Wisniewski. Principal trumpet teachers have included Michael Ewald, Leslie Linn, Walter Myers, and John Hagstrom. Mr. Harmon is a former member of the Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps (1980-1985) and the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps (1986-1988), and taught on the visual staff with the Madison Scouts from 1989-2003. He is also a freelance musician on his principal instruments - trumpet, piano and organ.

Mr. Harmon holds professional memberships in the Indiana Bandmasters Association, Music Educators National Conference, National Band Association, Indiana Music Educators Association, College Band Directors National Association (associate membership), and the International Association fo Jazz Educators. Mr. Harmon is also a former State Board member for the Indiana State School o Music Association (ISSMA), and is a current member of the ISSMA Marching Band Committee.
